It’s not often that you find yourself literally trapped by the tide at a wedding, partying well into the night. But this is what happened for Bethany and James’ wedding, owing to an especially high tide cutting the whole road outside Thames Rowing Club in Putney.

The day started off as it meant to go on, with Bethany a big bundle of infectious energy that spread across all of the bridesmaids at their Airbnb down the road from the venue.

I was shooting on my own this day, which meant I had to dot around between bride prep and James down at the pub with his groomsmen. The videographer and I whizzed down in an Uber to the pub to set the scene, then walked with all of the guests down to the church for the ceremony to start and for Bethany to arrive.

Bethany turned up in a sumptuous number from Catherine Deane and flowers by Kimberley Shaw, after thumbing a London black cab at the side of the road.

The weather was a bit all over the place, opening up big time as we captured group shots outside of the church. Some confetti baskets came in quite handy to keep guests dry and out of the rain.

We then all walked as a big group back to Thames Rowing Club for the reception. The venue was tastefully styled in long table rows, which is a real favourite of mine for table arrangements.

During the drinks reception is when the tide came in full force, cutting us off and keeping the drinks flowing. As quickly as it arrived, it receded and we headed out for a quick couple of snaps down the bank of the Thames.

There are parties and there are parties, this is the latter. The energy in the room was unbelievable, and it was an absolute whirlwind whizzing from one corner to the next to capture the mayhem unfolding.

Smashed it guys, what an absolute corker of a wedding!
